Faridkot, November 6
District and Sessions Judge Harpal Singh has dismissed two revision petitions and one application filed by former SSP Charanjit Singh Sharma in the Behbal Kalan firing case.
After dismissing the applications on Tuesday, the court has adjourned the case to November 12 for framing of charges against the accused.
Sharma had demanded that the case should not be committed by the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMIC) to the Faridkot Sessions Court for further proceedings. Seeking information from the SIT about its probe, the former SSP had approached the Sessions Court after his pleas were rejected by the JMIC, Faridkot, in June this year.
On September 13, Sharma had moved another application, demanding the status report in FIR no. 129, in which the then Bajakhana SHO had accused several unknown persons of attacking a police party with kirpans, stones and firearms at Behbal Kalan village on October 14, 2015.
Later, another FIR (No. 130) was registered on October 21 in 2015 against Sharma and several others. In a challan submitted by the SIT in FIR no. 130, it has been submitted that the FIR no. 129 was manipulated to frame innocent persons and save real culprits. The public prosecutor demanded dismissal of Sharma’s application filed on September 13.
