Three of the 14 accused in the triple murder case in Naushehra village, 35 km from here, have been arrested.
Harjit Singh Dhaliwal, SP (Investigation), told mediapersons today that the arrested accused were Beera Singh of Dhalla village and his son-in-law (daughter’s husband) Jobanjit Singh of Dhand village. The third accused being a teenager was sent to the Bal Sudhar Ghar (Juvenile). The two accused were produced in the local court from where they were remanded in a two-day police custody.
The daughter of accused Beera Singh had fallen in love with Harmanjit Singh of Naushehra and married him about one and a half months back. In a fit of rage, Beera Singh with other accused attacked Harmanjit’s house and killed his father Joginder Singh (65), brother Pawanjit Singh (19) and sister Prabhjit Kaur (18). Harmanjit belongs to a Jat Sikh family, while his wife is from Scheduled Caste. The accused have been booked under Sections 302, 34, 452, 148 and 149 of the IPC by Sarai Amanat Khan police. The absconding accused were Beera‘s sons Arashdip Singh and Sukh of Dhalla village and their relatives.
