Punjab State Power Corporation Limited is conducting systematic and precise raids to curb power theft in the state so that citizens of Punjab are free from glitches of such unscrupulous practices which endanger the entire network.
Baldev Singh Sran, CMD, PSPCL, revealed that PSPCL’s Patiala team conducted a raid and got arrested two such anti-social elements who were indulging in power theft by replacing the energy meters by fake meters. Both these consumers, namely Rajneesh Saxena, resident of Bindra Colony, and Amarjeet Kaur, resident of Sidhu Colony, Patiala, have been arrested and sent to Central Jail, Patiala, for further investigation of the matter. The police have got many vital clues from them about other probable culprits operating in the state facilitating such activities.
Further, PSPCL’s anti-theft police cell also nabbed Harbans Singh, resident of Anand Nagar-B, Patiala, from Rajpura along with his car, which was fully equipped with a variety of meter-tampering instruments. He was trying to flee from the state and was nabbed. He has also given some vital inputs, about where he was enabling power theft and such other persons, who are also involved in this shameful act.
Sran said he was quite confident that PSPCL would be able to further identify and understand the modus operandi being used by these power thieves, who are using quite diverse methods to steal power. — TNS
