Five senior ministers today met over dinner at the Sector 2 residence of Local Bodies Minister Brahm Mohindra to reportedly “strategise” for the forthcoming Vidhan Sabha session, beginning from August 2.

Mohindra, who also holds the charge of Parliamentary Affairs, did not respond to phone calls.

Apart from Speaker Rana KP Singh, Finance Minister Manpreet Badal, Rural Development Minister Tript Rajinder Bajwa, Technical Education Minister Charanjit Channi and Housing Minister Sukhbinder Sarkaria attended the dinner. Another invitee to the dinner Cooperation Minister Sukhjinder Randhawa was away to Orrisa. Other ministers were, however, not present, which raised eyebrows.

In the corridors of power, the gathering was being seen as dinner diplomacy at play to iron out “simmering” discontent among certain ministers over the recent Cabinet reshuffle. It was a routine get together and there was nothing to read between the lines, said sources close to one of the ministers.
