Lambi (Muktsar), July 29
Despite the fact that the SAD and BJP are alliance partners, the saffron party leadership is not allowed to carry out its membership drive in former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal’s home turf Lambi here.
For instance, Jaswinder Singh, an SAD sarpanch from Khemakhera village, yesterday stopped the BJP’s Lambi block president Kulwant Singh to carry out the membership drive in his villages and when the BJP leader today spoke to the SAD’s vice-president Tejinder Singh Middukhera over the phone, he, too, said the same.
An audio of the conversation between Middukhera and Kulwant has also gone viral on the social media, wherein Middukhera asked him to make members in some other areas and stop the activity here.
“This is Badal Sahib’s area and you should not enter here. Don’t create a controversy. You have other areas for membership drive so go there. The party is not just your responsibility. Who will listen to you in our government? You are not even getting any MLA’s ticket with this membership drive. Just tell your party leaders that everything is good here, so no need of any membership drive,” said Tejinder Middukhera in the telephonic conversation gone viral on the social media.
Meanwhile, Kulwant Singh said, “I along with some others had simply gone to Khemakhera village yesterday and made a public announcement for the today’s membership drive but the sarpanch asked me to leave the village and stop this here. When I spoke to Tejinder over the phone today, he, too, said the same. I have brought this issue to the notice of our district president and state general secretary. The SAD leaders are not allowing us to make members in the Lambi area. We have supported them and supporting in future as well, still they are not tolerating us.”
Middukhera said, “I just told Kulwant that when the SAD has already started membership drive in this area of Badal Saheb, then there is no need of the BJP to make members. I said nothing wrong as people will get confused and take out some other meaning of two parallel membership drives. However, I am surprised that he made the audio of our conversation viral.” Rajesh Pathela ‘Gora’, district president, BJP, Muktsar, said, “The top leadership has been informed.”
