Chandigarh: Reacting to government’s recent decision to give Cabinet rank to Amritsar MLA Raj Kumar Verka, the AAP claimed today that offering Cabinet ranks to political leaders in this manner would put a burden on the public exchequer. In a press release, state president of the party Bhagwant Mann claimed that the CM was trying to keep the party united by all these sort of largesse. He said as per rule, the government could appoint only 18 ministers, but contrary to that at least 10 persons had been given minister ranks by the Chief Minister. Committed to provide sports facilities in schools: Minister

Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi on Sunday said the state government was fully committed to provide every facility to the budding players undergoing training in sports in schools, besides ensuring top notch infrastructure with the aim to producing future champions at the international level. The Marxist Communist Party of India (United) (MCPI-U) and Revolutionary Marxist Party of India (RMPI) today organised a district-level joint meeting at local Himmat Singh Dharmshala here. All leaders alleged that the Central BJP government was trying to promote multinational companies (MNCs). “The divisive role of the BJP and its other organisations was discussed. There is an urgent need to get united to save the country from further division,” said Kiranjit Singh Sekhon, member of politburo of MCPI-U after the meeting. Sekhon added that the weakening of various laws like the RTI by the Central BJP government also came under sharp criticism. “Laws are made for the welfare of country but the present government has started weakening them,” Sekhon added.
