VB nabs health official for Rs 26L fraud

The Vigilance Bureau on Tuesday arrested a senior assistant posted in the Health Department at Ludhiana Civil Hospital for embezzling salary funds worth Rs 26.53 lakh.

The accused, identified as Gurpartap Singh of Pandori Arayian village in Zira, had committed the fraud when he was posted as a clerk at the hospital in Moga during 2015-18.

DSP Harjinder Singh said Gurpartap used to draw salaries of transferred or retired employees into his or his wife’s account. “He has embezzled at least Rs 26,53,116. Further investigations are on,” he said.
