3-yr-old raped in Sultanpur Lodhi

A 55-year-old migrant labourer was arrested for allegedly raping a three-year-old at Sultanpur Lodhi. Daughter of a Bihar native, the victim, youngest of eight siblings, was raped by Ganesh, who hails from Tamil Nadu. The incident took place at migrants’ colony near the Rail Coach Factory in Kapurthala.
This is the fourth such incident in the state in the last four days. The victim, a resident of the Saido Bhalana village, Sultanpur Lodhi, has been admitted to Kapurthala civil hospital.
Her father said, “Ganesh is our neighbour. He took my daughter to his room after luring her with some eatables. Sometime later, we heard her cries and rushed to his room. We found him raping my daughter, who was crying and bleeding profusely. We rushed her to hospital and called the police.”
An FIR under Section 376 of the IPC and Section 6 of the POCSO Act has been registered at Sultanpur Lodhi police station against Ganesh, who was arrested this evening.
Sarabjit Singh, SSP, Kapurthala, said, “The girl’s medical examination has been conducted. We are conducting scientific investigation to ensure the accused is not let off. The police will also soon present a challan in the case.”
