2 held with heroin worth Rs 10 crore

The Anti-Narcotics Cell set up at range level has nabbed two drug peddlers and recovered 2 kg heroin worth Rs 10 crore besides one US-made pistol (9 mm) along with two magazines and 14 rounds.
MS Chhina, Inspector General of Police, Ferozepur Range, said following a tip-off, a naka had been laid two days ago near Madhre village when two persons identified as Parmjit Singh, alias Laddu, a resident of Gatti Harime Ke village, and Harmesh Singh of Bhakhra village were nabbed while they were coming from Baare Ke village in a car.
The IG said during the checking of their car, one kg heroin was recovered. “Both the accused were produced in the court and their four days police remand was taken,” he said, adding that later during interrogation, Paramjit disclosed that one kg more heroin besides some arms and ammunition was concealed in a black plastic bag hidden beneath the ground on the bank of a river near Kilcha ke village.
The police recovered the consignment, including drugs, pistol and the ammunition today. The IG said a case under Sections 21, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act and Sections 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act was registered against the accused.
Chhina said the consignment had been sent into the India territory from Pakistan. “Further investigations are on,” he said.
