A man set his wife on fire after she stopped him from drinking liquor. The victim has suffered serious burns and had been admitted to the PGIMER, Chandigarh.

As per an FIR registered at the Dhuri Sadar police station under Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code against Varinder Singh of Dhura village, his wife Rajwinder Kaur had alleged that her husband was an alcoholic and both had frequent fights whenever she stopped him from drinking.

However, last evening when she refused to give him money, Varinder Singh set her on fire.

“Rajwinder Kaur has suffered 40 per cent burns and admitted to the PGIMER. We are conducting raids to arrest Varinder Singh,” said Sub-Inspector Gurjeet Singh.
