Cabinet Minister Vijay Inder Singla, former CM Rajinder Kaur Bhattal along with senior officers today handed over a cheque of Rs 14 lakh and an appointment letter to Manjit Kaur, wife of Dalit victim Jagmail Singh, at the bhog ceremony of the deceased. Jagmail had died on November 16 after he was allegedly thrashed by upper caste men at Changaliwala village.

“Apart from the Rs 14-lakh cheque and an appointment letter, our government has also given her Rs 1.25 lakh for the repair of her house. We have appointed her as peon at a government school near Changaliwala village,” said Singla.

Earlier, the government had given Rs 6 lakh to the family before the cremation.
