Ludhiana, November 27

A court here on Wednesday discharged Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh and all other accused in the alleged Rs 1,140-crore Ludhiana City Centre scam.

Sessions Judge Gurbir Singh accepted the closure report presented by the state vigilance bureau and discharged all the 31 accused.

“The charges against us have been rejected,” Amarinder Singh told reporters outside the court.

He said he knew from the first day that it was a false case.

In August 2017, the Vigilance Bureau had filed a closure report giving a clean chit to the CM and other accused. Arguments by Director Prosecution Vijay Singla and District Attorney Ravinder Abrol on the closure report have concluded.

Former DGP Sumedh Singh Saini, ex-SSP (Vigilance Bureau) Kanwarjit Singh Sandhu, MLA Simarjit Singh Bains and architect Sunil Kumar Day have challenged the closure report moved by the bureau but the same were dismissed by the Sessions Court with the observation that they had no locus standi to challenge the report. with PTI
