In a five-month-old rape case, a local court today convicted the conductor of a private school bus. A four-year-old was raped by the conductor in a private school in Dhuri when a parent-teacher meeting was in progress. The quantum of punishment will be announced on December 2.

“The court convicted Kamal Kumar of rape and acquitted all three members of management, including school incharge Babita and management members Tarsem lal and Jiwan Jain. The quantum of punishment will be pronounced on December 2,” said Narpal Singh Dhaliwal counsel for the victim.

The incident had taken place on May 25. The victim was playing in the school park. The accused, who worked as conductor-cum-helper in the school, took her to the restroom, raped her and dropped her near the meeting room. — TNS
