The police today brought jail inmates Gahia Khan and Bagga Khan Takhar to Malerkotla for investigation into the murder of gangster Abdul Rashid, alias Ghudu, who was shot dead late on Monday evening. Besides, the police also brought another man, Bhola Shooter, on remand to ascertain if he too was involved in the murder.
“We have brought Bagga Khan Takhar and Gahia Khan of Matoi from Amritsar and Bathinda jails, respectively, and procured their six-day remand. We also brought Bhola shooter from Bathinda jail to probe his role in the murder,” said Sangrur SSP Sandeep Garg.
Mohd Yameen, alias Bobby, stated to the police that his younger brother, Abdul Rashid, alias Ghudu (26), was at his marriage party at New Rani Mehal Palace near Zarg Chowk of Malerkotla on Monday evening. When he went towards the palace entrance to welcome guests, four unidentified youngsters entered the palace and opened fire at Ghudu. When fleeing, the assailants also fired at an electrician of the palace, Arun Chauhan, who stood near Ghudu.
A case under Sections 302, 120-B and 25/54/59 of the Arms Act has been registered against Bagga Khan Takhar, Gahia Khan of Matoi and Faraz Ahmed along with five unidentified persons.
“After we brought the three, the deceased’s family took the body from the hospital for burial . We are conducting a thorough investigation,” the SSP added.
