A video showing several people beating up two youths for allegedly posting derogatory comments on the photographs of a girl on Facebook has gone viral.

This is the second such incident in two days in the district. The youths, identified as Deepak Singh and Ramandeep Singh, were beaten up by a group of people at Preetnagar locality.

They got multiple injuries. They were admitted to a local hospital, but the police had not yet turned up to record their statement for registering a case.

Deepak said his friend Ramandeep Singh received photographs from a local girl on social media and he commented on it. The comments were not derogatory, he claimed.

Ramandeep admitted that the girl was known to him. “She lives in our locality. No derogatory comments were made by me. Those who assaulted me snatched my phone, deleted all chats and then broke the mobile phone,” he alleged.

The injured youths demanded registration of a case against the culprits.
