A 40-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her husband and his friend with a sharp-edged weapon when she asked them not to drink liquor. The crime took place at their residence at Charik village in the district on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday, the police said.
The deceased has been identified as Jyoti Rani. She sustained multiple injuries on her head.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Jyoti’s husband Balwant Singh was drinking liquor at his house along with his friend Jassa Singh of Gholia Khurd village.
Jyoti tried to stop them from consuming excess liquor. Enraged over her objection, Balwant took a sharp weapon and attacked her. His friend joined him. She died on the spot.
The police have arrested both Balwant Singh and Jassa Singh and registered a case of murder under Section 302 of the IPC.
