Technical Education Minister Charanjit Singh Channi requested the Centre to set-up an international skill centre and skill university in the state while presenting a vision document during the ministers’ conclave held at Parvasi Bhartiya Kendra in New Delhi on Monday.

The conclave was organised by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and was presided over by Minister Mahendra Nath Pandey. Ministers from 18 states participated in it.

Channi, while presenting a vision document for the state, said the Centre should set up international skill centre in Punjab to get the youth placed in foreign industry.

He said the state government was ready to give land for setting up the skill university that would not only run training courses, but a centre of excellence would also be set up on the campus. The minister said this university should be made the assessment and certification authority for all skill training centres of the state. This will enhance the quality of skill training and our youth will get easily placed in the national and international industry, he added.
