The Supreme Court Collegium has resolved to recommend the elevation of six judicial officers as judges of the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
The judicial officers to be elevated are Ashok Kumar Verma, Sant Parkash Phutela, Karamjit, Vivek Puri, Meenakshi I Mehta and Archana Puri.
The recommendation for their elevation was initially made by the then Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court on March 14, in consultation with his two senior-most colleagues. The list has the concurrence of the states of Punjab and Haryana.
Referring to the HC Collegium’s recommendation regarding judicial officer Satish Kumar Aggarwal, the SC collegium asserted: “Having regard to the material on record and all relevant factors, the Collegium is of the considered view that his case deserves to be remitted to the High Court. The Collegium resolves to recommend accordingly.”
The High Court as of now has 47 judges against the sanctioned strength of 85.
