The Court of Additional Sessions Judge Rashmi Sharma on Thursday partly recorded the cross-examination of the victim of the Issewal gang rape case.
The defence lawyers started cross-examining the victim around 11 am. It continued till the lunch hours.
Earlier, the defence lawyers had partly cross-examined the victim on two hearings.
The court adjourned the hearing till September 30. The cross-examination would continue on the next date of hearing. Her statement was recorded by the court on July 22, whereas she had supported the prosecution case fearlessly. The charges were framed in this case on May 6. The police had filed the charge sheet based upon the scientific investigation supported by 54 witnesses.
The girl was gangraped on February 9 near Issewal village on the banks of Sidwan Canal, about 15 km from Ludhiana when she was travelling in with her friend. — OC
