The police have booked four persons for allegedly thrashing two landless farm labourers who were living in a shanty near Sangu Dhun village on Sunday.

The injured, Harpal Singh and Seema Rani, alleged that some people belonging to the upper caste were regularly threatening the villagers living on the shamlat land and assaulted them. Notably, a video of the incident has gone viral.

Victim Harpal Singh alleged, “The accused first let a dog after us and then thrashed us with sticks and sharp weapons. Besides, they passed casteist remarks.”

Seema Rani said: “The attackers thrashed me and tore my clothes while snatching the phone.”

The police have booked Amarjit Singh, Shaminder Singh, Yadwinder Singh and Butta Singh under Sections 354B, 323 and 341 of the IPC. Amarjit Singh has been arrested while the others have absconded.
