A bid to smuggle Punjab-made liquor, worth Rs 27 lakh, to Gujarat was foiled by the Rajasthan Police by intercepting a truck at a special naka.
The Rajasthan Police said 450 liquor boxes, concealed under rice bags, were seized. Driver Subhash Jakhar (41) feigned ignorance.
He claimed that the truck was handed over to him in Punjab and the consignment was to be delivered to someone in Gujarat after receiving a call about the exact destination and recipient.
Meanwhile, the Abohar police seized 240 bottles of Haryana-made liquor and arrested Manak Madu Ram and Ram Kumar of Seetogunno village.
Kaku Singh and Ashok Kumar of Himmatpura village were nabbed with 48 small packs of Rajasthan-made liquor. Further probe is on.
