As many as 13,400 banned capsules and 25,000 sedative tablets were seized at the old bus stand at Suratgarh in Sriganganagar. The accused, identified as Ramzan (38) of Hanumangarh and Bhim (25) of Chak 4KSR village, had come to take the delivery of three boxes containing the contraband and were arrested under the NDPS Act.
SHO Niket Pareek said the consignment was transported through a private bus from Jodhpur. Preliminary investigation indicated that the duo had in the past allegedly taken delivery of similar consignments twice. On a tip off, the police had cordoned the area today.
The Wahabwala (Abohar) police seized 500 habit-forming sedative tablets by intercepting Gurmeet Singh of Wahabwala and Jeet Ram of Sadulshehar at Rajpura bus stand on the state highway, both were held under the NDPS Act.
