Best Lawyers in Chandigarh Youth’s death sparks protest in Ferozepur

Ferozepur, August 27

Hundreds of farmers, led by BKU (Krantikari), blocked the Ferozepur-Zira highway this evening following the mysterious death of a youth, Harmanjot Singh of village Kassuana.

He had been missing since yesterday evening. The body was recovered from Mehar Singh Wala village this morning.

As per information, the victim was the only son of his parents. While the family of Harmanjot claimed that he was poisoned to death, sources revealed that the deceased youth had returned from a de-addiction center two days ago, and had perhaps died due to drug overdose.

The police have booked five persons on the basis of a complaint lodged by the father of the deceased. Those booked under Sections 302/307/149 IPC include Baldev Singh, Baltej Singh and Jagdev Singh.

The dharna was lifted in the evening after the police registered the FIR.

SSP Vivek Sheel Soni said the police were investigating the matter to ascertain the cause of death. — OC
