A couple was killed in a road mishap that took place on the Ferozepur-Fazilka highway near Alfu ke village, around 15 km from the district headquarters, on Thursday afternoon.

The deceased have been identified as Dyal Singh and his wife Swarn Kaur, both residents of Khakhe village in Ganganagar district of Rajasthan.

The accident took place on Thursday, when the bike-borne couple was coming towards Pojo Ke village in Mamdot to meet their relatives. As soon as they reached near Alfu ke village, their bike was hit by an overspeeding jeep coming from the opposite side. The impact proved lethal and the couple died on the spot.

As soon as the matter was reported, the police reached the accident site. The bodies were sent for the post-mortem. The driver of the jeep, however, fled the spot.
