Moga, August 29
A 33-year-old man died of drug overdose at Kokri Kalan village of the district on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Aslam.
This is the sixth death reported due to drugs in Moga district in a month.
The police said the man’s body was found in the fields outside the village. Preliminary probe revealed that some unidentified youths gave Aslam an overdose of “chitta”, which killed him within a couple of hours of consumption.
After recording the statement of the family of Aslam, the police have registered a criminal case under Section 304 of the Indian Penal Code against unknown persons. Further, probe is in progress.
