Amid rumors that a child lifting gang was active in the area, panic gripped Banbhauri village of the district after two minor cousin brothers went missing last evening.

Bodies of both of them were recovered from the village pond today. As per information, two cousin brothers — Rajvir Singh (3) and Jowan Singh (3) — were playing near their house last evening when they allegedly fell into the pond and drowned.

When both did not return to home, family members started searching. There were rumours that a child lifting gang had kidnapped them.

Harwinder Singh Khaira, SHO, Dhuri Sadar police station, said, “After the children went missing, there was panic in the village. We finally recovered the bodies from the pond this morning. After the post-mortem, the bodies were handed over to their relatives.” — TNS
