Patiala, July 31

The Punjab Police has formed a special investigation team (SIT), comprising members of the crime and investigation wings, to probe the disappearance of two siblings who have been missing from Kheri Gandian village in Patiala for 9 days now.

Director General of Police (DGP) Dinkar Gupta has formed an SIT, comprising three IPS officers — Inspector General of Police (IGP) AS Rai, AIG Varinder Pal Singh and AIG Sarabjit Singh — to probe the matter.

IG AS Rai, who will be leading the team, said the members held a meeting at the Kheri Gandian police station for three hours today. The police deliberated upon the situation at hand, previous developments, various issues and further strategies.

Meanwhile, the police have also submitted the samples from the body of a child that was recovered from the Sarala head of the Bhakhra canal at the lab in Mohali for DNA test.
