A woman and her daughter-in-law were killed and four others injured as a tractor-trailer on which they were travelling overturned near Odian village in the district today.

Sources said about 20 farm labourers, most of them women, were going on a tractor-trailer from Karnikhera village to Kerian village on Tuesday morning. As their tractor-trailer reached near Odian village, the tractor which was driven by Gurmit Singh, got stuck in mud due to rain and the trailer overturned. The farm labourers fell from the trailer and some were crushed under it.

Police sources said Sundro Bai (35), wife of tractor driver Gurmit Singh, died on the spot. The other five injured were rushed to the local Civil Hospital. Gurmit’s mother Veero Bai (62) succumbed to her injuries in the Faridkot hospital later on. — OC
