Fazilka: The police claimed to have arrested a woman and her son and recovered 21 gram heroin and Rs 18,000 stated to be drug money at the border road here today. Investigating Officer Krishan Lal said Chhoti Devi and her son Sita Ram were found with drugs near Lakkar Mandi. OC

Liquor bottles seized 

Abohar: The police here seized 600 bottles of Haryana-made liquor by intercepting a car on the Seetogunno road and held Amit Narula, a resident of Krishna Nagar, under the Excise Act. In another incident, Paramjit Singh of Seed Farm Colony was nabbed with 67 bottles of liquor. OC

School timings changed

Chandigarh: Taking note of the ongoing heatwave, the Education Department has announced changed timings for all government, private aided and recognised schools from Monday. As per the new timings, the school will function from 7.30 am to 1.30 pm. tns

One booked for rape 

Abohar:  A resident of Malukpura village was booked under Section 376 of the IPC on Saturday. A woman alleged that Om Parkash dragged her to a room in his fields while she was working alone and raped her. OC
