Some residents allegedly uprooted trees from the common land of Faujewal village on Friday. However, more than two days have passed but the Sandaur police authorities are yet to take any action.

“Some residents of Farwahi village brought a JCB and uprooted more than 10 trees from the village common land. When we got to know, we called the police and stopped them from uprooting more trees. Though we immediately submitted an application and our panchayat secretary also visited the site, the police are yet to register any case against the persons who had uprooted the trees,” alleged Gurmeet Singh, sarpanch of Faujewal village.

The sarpanch said the trees were planted in 2017 by some residents of the village. But some months later, they got a complaint that some people had usurped the village common land.

“During measurement, the land where trees were planted was found to be owned by the panchayat. We constructed a temporary boundary near the trees but some residents uprooted them without any permission of the panchayat. The police must immediately register a case,” said Karnail Singh, former sarpanch of Faujewal village.

Sandhaur SHO Surinder Kumar did not attend his phone despite repeated calls. “Investigation is underway. We are checking revenue records,” said Bikkar Singh, munshi of Sandaur police station.
