After detecting a “fraud” of Rs 36 lakh in its Lehra division office, senior authorities of the PSPCL have written to the Sangrur SSP for the registration of a case against an assistant junior engineer.

Sangrur Deputy Chief Engineer Basant Jindal said in May, he received a complaint that a fraud had taken place after which he informed the audit cell.

“I suspended Sunam Assistant Junior Engineer Jai Kumar, who was posted as a pay clerk from 2006 to 2013 at our Lehra office. We have written to the SSP for registration of a fraud case against him. Jai Kumar has committed a fraud of Rs 36.76 lakh by diverting the arrears of employees to his and his wife’s bank accounts,” Jindal said. —TNS
