Following flak from all corners, the Punjab State Education Board (PSEB) has stayed its circular of fee-hike of Class X and XII, which was issued on June 21.
PSEB has withdrawn its circular of examination and its related (administrative) fee-hike until the next order. PSEB had increased the examination fees of both the classes from Rs 1,100 to Rs 1,800, a 64 per cent hike. Meanwhile, Class XII examination fee was increased from Rs 1,200 to Rs 1,400; beside, Rs 200 for each practical.
The fee for verification of certificate had been increased from Rs 800 to 1,500 for any certificate. Besides this, the fee has also been hiked for reappearing and choosing an additional subject.
From Rs 1,050 to Rs 1,500 in Class X and Rs 1,350 to 1,500 in Class XII, the board had made a steep hike in fees for reappear examination in boards. Different teacher associations had criticised the move.
