Best Lawyers in Chandigarh Cops clueless over extortion letters
Muktsar, June 30
A day after a man threw extortion letters at nearly 30 houses at Lachman Colony in Gidderbaha town demanding Rs 50,000 from each household or to face dire consequences, the police are so far clueless about him. The handwritten letters are purportedly sent by gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang as it is mentioned on them. Further, two contact numbers are also given on these letters.
In the CCTV footage, the man, possibly in his early 30s with his face covered, is seen throwing letters at 1.05 am on Saturday. The police have even registered a case in this regard. This development has created panic among the residents. Harpreet Singh, SHO, Gidderbaha police station, said, “We have questioned a man whose phone number is mentioned on the letter and are keeping an eye on him. The other cell number mentioned on the letter belongs to a Karnataka resident. “A local resident has informed us that he had got almost similar message on Facebook Messenger a few days ago. We are trying to detect the sender,” he added. — TNS
