Moga, June 26

The police on Wednesday busted a gang of interstate smugglers and recovered 42 boxes of liquor from the outer localities of Moga city.

However, four liquor smugglers managed to flee from the spot but they all have been identified. A case under Sections 61, 1 and 14 of the Punjab Excise Act has been registered against them at Moga City-II police station. Further investigation is underway.

Those identified to be involved in liquor smuggling include Sikandar Singh, a resident of Guru Ram Das Nagar; Shiva, a resident of Mohalla Lahorian; Kuldeep Singh, a resident of Bukkanwala Road and Sagar, a resident of Sadhanwali Basti in Moga city.

The liquor was smuggled by them from Haryana, the police said.
