Best Lawyers in Chandigarh 2,309 abandoned borewells plugged

Chandigarh, June 29

In its drive to seal abandoned borewells in the aftermath of two-year-old Fatehveer Singh’s death in Sangrur, the government has plugged of 2,309 borewells.

Giving details, KS Pannu, Director, Tandarust Punjab Mission, said as per the status of the compliance reports received so far, 2,309 of 2,333 identified abandoned borewells had been plugged, including 1,397 identified by the district administration with the help of the Agriculture Department, 553 by Tubewell Corporation and 359 by the Irrigation Department.

Sangrur district has topped the list with 419 borewells sealed, followed by Amritsar 319, Bathinda 131, SAS Nagar 123 and Mansa 110. — TNS
